The options to setup a site with a large content repository in a high performance, high availability hosting environment can became very confusing very fast. There are multiple layers: hardware, database, web server, PHP, Drupal, HTML, CSS, and JS. There are various well documented solutions for optimizing these various layers, but what happens when you have a very large data store and and want to ensure that end users get served the content they need instantaneously, reliably? How would Mongo, Hadoop, or other NoSQL databases play a role? What about Drupal 8? Pantheon has worked with our partners at Blackmesh to investigate the difference between all of the options. In this session, we will discuss the various solutions available and how performance differs among them.
